Reflective and absorptive acoustic barriers

Noise Reduction for Supermarkets

Our range of acoustic barriers can reduce noise around supermarkets, warehouses, and distribution centres, while helping to conceal operations with their solid construction, and add a natural appearance to the site with their timber façade.

20 years after the launch of the 24/7 supermarket, many big brands have now scaled back their offering to ‘regular’ opening hours. The expansion of home delivery services for almost every supermarket has increased convenience and capacity for customers to be able to receive goods at all hours of the day from the comfort of their homes. The night hours in supermarkets, dark stores, and distribution centres are now used for restocking, cleaning, and picking and loading customer orders for delivery.

In other news, a number of stores have had to cease making or receiving deliveries during certain hours, due to noise complaints. However, to fulfil the ever-growing demand for home deliveries, supermarkets will need to continue and may even need to increase their operations. The unfortunate side effect of increased demand is also increased noise, which may cause upset for neighbours. Whether it is a regular supermarket or a dark store, the reality is that these large-scale developments represent a clear impact on the local neighbourhood and any supermarket needs to be seen to be embracing clear strategies that underpin their commitment to maintaining good community relations.

So how can noise reduction be achieved?

Solution to noise pollution

The installation of acoustic barriers and gates can help to reduce the negative impact of noise pollution by either reflecting or absorbing the excessive sound. Installing acoustic fencing will not only limit the level of noise experienced by neighbours, it can also enhance overall security by delivering a robust line of physical defence and improving site privacy, which can help to reduce the risk of premises being targeted for shoplifting.

Fencing solutions for retail stores

Fencing for retail stores is a crucial measure implemented to protect inventory, staff, and customers, and provide benefits like concealment and noise reduction, and improve the view for nearby residents. Retail store fencing not only acts as a physical barrier against theft and unauthorised access but also serves to delineate property boundaries clearly. Effective retail store fencing solutions are available in both steel and timber, each offering different benefits such as high visibility, privacy, noise reduction, and aesthetic appeal. Additionally, incorporating technology like PIDS, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems with fencing can further enhance the security and operational efficiency of retail stores.
