Residents of Barking, Greater London, are still unable to use a post box by the town's train station, despite the removal of some problem metal railings.
The Barking and Dagenham Post reported that Ifkethar Kashmiri had to queue for 20 minutes to send his post after not one but two boxes were shut in close proximity to the station.
Royal Mail permanently shut one of them as it was deemed "too small", and the council closed off its replacement during three weeks of construction. However, once the railings were removed the post box was sealed. The nearest place to post letter is a ten-minute walk away.
Mr Kashmiri told the source: "I saw a confused pensioner also try and post a letter but with no luck. So we still have to go to the post office."
A council spokesperson claimed that the post box was the responsibility of the Royal Mail. Whilst the post office recently released a new Diamond Jubilee stamp, residents in Barking will be lucky to send a letter with the commemorative souvenir anytime soon.
