Play area fencing made up of vibrant giant pencils is just one addition at a new learning space in Suffolk that is delighting children.
The pencil fencing and a pirate ship have been installed in the play area at Abbots Hall School in Stowmarket, the Bury Free Press reported.
Poppy Robinson, mayor of Stowmarket, opened the play area and two new classrooms this week.
The new classrooms are made of light wood and include wicker baskets, while the play area fencing, which cost £13,000, is designed to look like a row of pencils set in dazzling colours.
Rachel Bailey, headteacher of the school, told the newspaper there were lots of "ooohs and aahs" coming from the children when they saw the new development.
"The environment is one thing, but we must always remember it's the teaching within that environment that matters," she added.
Earlier this month youngsters in Dorset undertook a creative project with their play area fencing, decorating it with collages, the Dorset Echo reported.
