Security fencing will protect people playing sport at a new football pitch in Cumbernauld that is close to being formally confirmed.

According to Cumbernauld News, an announcement that work is set to begin on the new pitch at Croy is expected soon.

Alongside an artificial playing surface and changing facilities, security fencing and floodlights will also be installed.

"We are working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council and are hoping to have confirmation on the project this week," Pat Johnston, chairman of the Croy Development Trust, told the news provider.

"It has taken a great deal of work and we want to ensure we get every detail right."

Recently, it was reported that security fencing will be installed at a new all-weather pitch at a school in York.

The York Press said that the £500,000 proposal, for Canon Lee School in Clifton, will allow pupils more opportunity to play sport.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800395393-ADNFCR
